The Councillor for Sports, Miguel Cascales, signed Wednesday, April 28 in Madrid Murcia commitment to be one of the cities hosting competitions could be organized in Spain and Portugal on the occasion of the celebration of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017 and the FIFA World Cup 2018, or 2021 FIFA Confederations Cup and the FIFA World Cup 2022.
On 26 March the Government of Spain signed the Council of Ministers, government guarantees required by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to qualify for the celebration in Spain and Portugal in the Confederations Cup and the FIFA World Cup 2018 or 2022.
The candidate cities to host this event, among which is Murcia, on Wednesday signed a document committing themselves to assume the powers and responsibilities of hosting some of the competitions for these events.
Murcia and has experience in carrying out major events and has hosted the Olympic Days European Youth in 2001, the World Championship of Figure Skating in 2006, the World Paddle in 2006, many national championships, and host in the summer of 2010, the World University Taekwondo World Cup Paddle and FISU Forum 2010.
