The Secretary General of Prisons, Mercedes Gallizo, accompanied by the delegate of the Government in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, today opened the new Centre for Social Integration (CIS) "Guillermo Miranda" in Murcia.
This new infrastructure will house prison inmates who are in an advanced process of reintegration or serving their sentences in open prisons.
The CIS has been designed to carry out a more rational and effective intervention in the process of penitentiary inmates in open prisons, a mode of execution of the sentence you are looking for the offender's reintegration facilitating their participation in family life, social and work.
The CIS of Murcia has 150 double rooms, 1 and 1 additional for people with reduced mobility, occupational and productive workshop, kitchen, laundry, library, sports area and area of health care.
The new infrastructure also has a social services area prisons, which are responsible for compliance with alternative sanctions and monitoring of parolees.
The new CIS is named after Guillermo Miranda, who from 1992 until his death in 2009 served as director of the prison in Murcia.
This center joins the 24 CIS that are already in operation in Spain.
