The three political groups in Parliament have adopted an institutional statement which requires an amendment to the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha, by the serious allegations, following the report by the University of Castilla-La Mancha, on the use which is made of water from the Tajo-Segura Murcia irrigators.
It also requires public recognition of the efficient use of water resources of the Tajo-Segura.
The institutional statement is:
"In the report by the University of Castilla-La Mancha, at the request of the Board of Castilla-La Mancha, in which serious allegations are dumped on the use made of water from the Tajo-Segura Murcia irrigators, based on falsehoods and inaccuracies, saying that some of this water is used for irrigation of golf courses in the Region of Murcia.
The Municipal Corporation expressed their rejection of such allegations saying that the Region of Murcia is the Autonomous Community where there is greater water efficiency, constituting an example in sanitation and water treatment, the first region in Spain, water treatment, with more than 100hm3 of treated water.
Specifically, in the municipality of Murcia since 2003, treat and reuse 100% of our waters.
Having a modernized irrigation 90%, resulting in just 3.4% of national water for irrigation to produce and export 25% to 20% of vegetables in Spain.
