The Governing Board has agreed to allocate € 24,000 to the Volunteer Office to the resources available to carry out the activities planned for this year.
The Volunteer Bureau is a service of Murcia Social Services Center South, commissioned in 2000 and carried out important actions aimed mainly at school support, nursing support, support for immigrants, disabled people, campaigning awareness and participation, as well as the provision of voluntary services.
The office currently has nearly 50 active volunteers who operate mainly in the districts of Beniaján, El Palmar, Torreagüera, Los Dolores, San José de la Vega (Tiñosa) Sangonera La Verde, Santo Angelo, Aljucer and Stables , which must be added the technicians that carry out projects with children, families and seniors, under the coordination and supervision of staff of the Center for Social Services.
The tasks that are primarily academic support, assistance to the elderly, immigrant advocacy and implementation of various approaches.
In 2010 are planned including the following:
- Information and awareness campaign in Secondary Education Centers, with the publication and dissemination of materials tailored to the group of young people.
In which they transmit values related to solidarity and participation.
In this campaign will be a workshop with youth groups over several months, taking as a motivating effect for this failure of an award for IES.
- Awareness campaign, awareness and recruitment in senior centers, women's centers and other municipal associations.
- Publication and distribution of informative material relating to volunteering and participation in the Volunteer Office.
- Publication of a newsletter of the Office, where he will collect an annual report of its activities, as well as news and interviews of interest.
Following the success of previous editions, this year will be the V Meeting of Volunteers.
