The Councillor for Youth and Employment, María Dolores Sánchez, today put the book 'Social Integration and Youth Participation', to youth groups and immigrants.
The publication presents the work and experiences of the Department in the field of social inclusion and youth participation.
It is a collective work carried out by technicians from the Youth Service, with the collaboration of technicians from the Department of Health and Human Services, and the participation of youth associations, immigrant associations and institutions, social organizations working in the fields of youth , culture, solidarity and integration and youth groups involved.
This publication is a look at the reality of immigrant youth, and a compilation of the experiments conducted that have resulted in the creation of a cooperation network made up of young immigrants and Spanish, greater involvement of youth and social organizations present in the city, and increasing the participation of immigrant youth in activities promoted by the city of Murcia.
The Department of Youth and Employment, after the positive results of these experiments will continue this line of work on social integration and participation of youth in the municipality, in collaboration with other municipal departments and other institutions.
The book, 248 pages, shows a detailed analysis of the new demographic and social reality of the municipality, and municipal programs and services have emerged to serve the immigrant population and experiences on social integration is developing the Youth Council .
An important chapter deals with the project "Youth, immigration and participation ', launched by the Department with the aim of promoting social inclusion, coexistence and participation of young immigrants in social, political, economic and cultural town and the prevention of discriminatory, racist and xenophobic through awareness programs.
This project has involved more than 6,000 people, of which at least 50% were immigrants, and has resulted in numerous activities including the drafting of the document 'talk of integration', which set out the voice, views and proposals from more than 100 young people from different backgrounds and institutions around five questions about integration, and the Youth Cultural Festival Enter in November last year, with more than 30 cross-cultural activities, entertainment and leisure, and expression Youth who have participated in over 2,500 youth.
The publication also includes a chapter with a summary of practical activities during the past year within the program "Youth activities for integration 'with the collaboration of the Department of Health and Human Services and the Autonomous Community of Murcia, including cross-cultural activities, leisure & recreation, youth expression.
The book can be found also, through various documents, the participatory process of analysis, debate and action to be undertaken with associations, youth and groups.
Youth participation is an essential and important tool to promote social integration.
María Dolores Sánchez presented the experiments carried out by Youth on integration last week in the Eurocities Forum, held in Murcia.
The book is especially dedicated to Miguel Payá Albert, who was Head of Youth Service for over 15 years and who died recently.
Payá worked tirelessly on this document.
Thousand copies have been printed in the book to be distributed free of charge, to all entities and youth institutions, educational, cultural and social aspects of the municipality of Murcia.
