Murcia was the first partner to pass this legislation

Municipal technicians presented Wednesday morning Municipal Solar Uptake in a conference on renewable energy and urban planning that take place in Lisbon.

Murcia City Council was the first partner to adopt the ordinance in late 2008 with what became one of the more advanced partners in the project, providing expertise and advice to others.

The conference is organized by e-Nova Lisboa, Murcia City Council member in the European Project PROSTO and will be held at the headquarters of LNEG that Portuguese is the national agency for Energy and Geology.

The conference, in which participating organizations and companies from different countries of the European Union, is intended primarily for local authorities in Portugal.

Municipal Ordinance Solar Uptake of Murcia has developed in the European project PROSTO in which the City of Murcia has participated since January 2008.

This project is financed 50% by the European Union and is part of the European Programme "Intelligent Energy for Europe" of the European Commission.

In PROSTO project, developed in the 2008-2010 period, also participate in Murcia, cities of Giurgiu, Lisbon, Stuttgart and the region of Lazio in Italy, and various partners 'technical' work and provide the project coordination and technical support to the institutional partners.

The total project budget of 1,155,959 euros, 50% financed by the European Union.

ALEM, the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change Murcia City as assistant manager in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency, has worked actively since the beginning of the project in its management.

The City of Murcia has about 15 solar thermal installations in buildings and municipal facilities.

These systems are intended to produce hot water especially in sports stadia, where heating needs are high and solar power is very appropriate.

Also, there are over 200 solar thermal installations in the municipality, which were privately sponsored and encouraged by the type of subsidy that keeps the City Council.

PROSTO project purpose is the preparation and adoption of solar thermal municipal ordinances in cities and regions involved in the project.
