More than 6,000 people have participated in the project 'Young, immigration and participation' that has launched the Department of Youth and Employment, headed María Dolores Sánchez, with the aim of promoting social inclusion, coexistence and participation immigrant youth in social, political, economic and cultural development of the municipality and the prevention of discriminatory, racist and xenophobic through awareness programs.
María Dolores Sánchez has exposed the experience of this successful project at the meeting of Social Affairs Forum of Eurocities, held from 10 to 12 March in Murcia.
This initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Department of Health and Human Services, and the participation of youth associations, immigrant associations and institutions, social organizations working in the fields of youth, culture, solidarity and integration and youth groups not legally constituted as an association.
The main objectives are to improve knowledge of the real life of young immigrants in the municipality, facilitating access of young immigrants to information about resources and activities for their active participation, promoting participation of young migrants in activities, programs and municipal services for young people, encourage participation of young immigrants in the municipality youth associations and support actions that develop the immigrant groups and organizations dealing with youth.
This project is aimed primarily at young people between 12 and 24 years, although efforts have developed a population of between 8 and 35, reflecting a participation of 6,000 young people for the actions last year, of which at least one 50% were immigrants.
More than 65 organizations have participated directly in the project, and more than 170 young people have worked as volunteers.
The activities have been conducted in the Municipal Youth Center more important as the Ship and 585 m2, and the association headquarters, plazas, streets, etc.

Research: You have created a documentary with over 60 volumes specializing in youth participation and immigration, located in the Youth Space La Nave, Bacons Bridge.

Awareness campaign and information dissemination: We carried out an awareness campaign created and run by young people themselves, has worked on the word 'integration' and has edited a video and document the result of all the work called 'We are talking about integration. "
Training and Technical Assistance: We have conducted five training meetings in which 180 young people participated and 62 associations.
41% of the participants were of Spanish origin and the rest abroad.
Have also held meetings for advice and support to partnerships in law and legal issues for the processing of grants, technical support, monitoring activities, etc.
Enter Youth Culture Festival: Held on November 7, 2009, with more than 30 cross-cultural activities, entertainment and leisure, and youth expression in which more than 2,000 young people.
María Dolores Sánchez explained that the Forum has made an approach to the reality of immigrant youth, has created a network of young immigrants and the Spanish, has ensured that youth associations in the municipality are involved in the program has increased the participation of young immigrants in the activities and presence in the Municipal Red Youth Team.
