The Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, Enrique Ujaldón, and the head of the Heritage Service, Fructuoso Ana, met today with two of the spokesmen of the Civic Platform in defense of the remains of San Esteban, Juan Bosch and Ana Peinado, to explain the work being carried out on the field.
So Ujaldón explained that in the coming days the company Villegas presented the final draft conservation and protection of the site.
This project includes the development of a full archaeological site diagnosis, which involves the excavation of large areas of it, and the measures adopted for the consolidation and protection of elements.
The Director General of Fine Arts and Cultural Rights also explained that, until the undertaking of conservation work and protection, will take various measures to maintain the site, such as relocation and maintenance of bilge pumps and spraying with herbicides to prevent the emergence of weeds.
Ujaldón also indicated that the Directorate General of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage has been working on a permanent basis in order to protect and add value to the site, in continuous dialogue with the committee of experts from the Region of Murcia and as soon as possible according to the time limits imposed by law.
