Councillor for Izquierda Unida Los Verdes Murcia +, Esther Herguedas has reported today that the Special Plan to Reform Interior (PERI) of the land annexed to the church of Santa Eulalia double the allowable floor area and detrimental to the archaeological and historical environment of the building.
Herguedas has indicated that the PERI is the result of an agreement between the Department of Fine Arts, the city of Murcia and the bishopric, owner of the archaeological site next to the church, whose floor area has been transferred to another, which also belongs to ecclesiastical institution.
He indicated that the outcome of that agreement is the construction of a 6-storey building that doubles the floor area and exceeds allowable height at the church, so it does not guarantee the best preservation of the remains that may appear and harms the contemplation of archaeological site. "
"A PERI archaeological site must be done according to the rules, but this one only intention is to increase the buildable area of a parcel of land clearing tool, a solution from the planning point of view can only be described as sloppy," he Apostille Herguedas.
It has also called a "curious" that the decisions of the Directorate General of Fine Arts and Cultural Assets "do not mention this issue and evaluate the project to avoid an attitude that goes against the Heritage Act which establishes the need for interventions to improve the urban space. "
