The Department of Environment and Urban Quality has arranged for this afternoon, after 20 hours at Vistabella Neighborhood Association, a talk to encourage residents to participate in the second edition of the Green Homes Program (organized by council, the Local Agency for Energy and Climate Change and Water Murcia) explaining its methodology and its benefits.
At this meeting, which was requested by the residents themselves, will explain how to change their consumption habits to make more sustainable use of resources and reduce spending on household economy.
The aim is that the families concerned, the formation and raising awareness about the impact of energy consumption on global warming and the global water scarcity and, consequently, reduce their consumption through changing some daily habits.
The ultimate goal is to deliver energy to the global commitment to the Kyoto Protocol and reduce by 5.2% in home energy consumption and emissions of greenhouse gases, while in water, the goal is to reduce by 6% 10% of household consumption, with consequent economic slowdown in the bills for families.
To do families receive specific training and a kit for saving energy and water.
In 2009, the participating families managed to save 7.1% on average in the energy bill and 10.2% in the water bill.
As in the previous edition, the first phase is dedicated to promoting self-household consumption of water and electricity saving measures and conduct introduced.
The aim is to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and decrease between 6 and 10% of domestic water consumption and energy.
In the second phase, the challenge will be to change certain habits to make the purchase.
Thus, the aim is to replace at least five basic food products from other agricultural and livestock production, removed from the cart at least two products harmful to the environment and eliminate two redundant products.
