This morning, ALUM Association and Vice-Rector of economy and infrastructure of the University of Murcia, have held a meeting at the rectory to discuss the state of the libraries of the University of Murcia.
At that meeting, attended by the head of the technical unit of the UMU, a technical specialist libraries, the Research D.
Juan María Vázquez Rojas, vice president of Teun Van Hout ALUM, ALUM President Joaquin Lara and vice president of economics D.
Antonio Calvo-Flores Segura.
During the meeting, ALUM association has submitted a study has been conducted through surveys to students about the status and possible improvements to the libraries of the university, from December to January.
The total number of students surveyed was 1000, and from among the proposals and commitments on the part of vice adopted today, highlights the future installation of ticket outlets for laptops with built-in charge, the temperature regulation in libraries, expansion of plugs needed for connecting computers in rooms of semi-noise, and a series of measures to prevent "ghost book" of sites that have to study in libraries, thus promoting the proper use of them and facilitating the real occupation of study.
Other possible measures have been considered are the expansion of areas dedicated to the study during exam time, and the extension of hours of libraries in school weekly period.
One of the most important measures that will come true, will be the implementation of a transport system and communication between libraries located in the Espinardo Campus and the campus of the grant, as the association has been pursuing for a long time.
This measure will allow the student to save time and money when picking a book that is not in the campus library in pursuing their studies.
According to association president, Joaquin Lara "We left the meeting very satisfied, because the provision and acceptance of proposals by both the University Authorities have been absolutely and totally open, showing that students also have much to contribute and improve within this our university, and even more students and ALUM associations, which since its foundation has been showing absolutely selfless work by the students of the University of Murcia. "
According to Vice President Teun Van Hout "the University has shown us today is very open to our proposals for improvement in an area as important as the well-being in university libraries."
"Since partnering ALUM thank all students who have collaborated in the study and preparing this report, which hopefully will serve to improve everything our university libraries."
