The government delegate in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, held a meeting this morning with the president of the Neighborhood Association Carmelite, Francisca López, and other members of the Board, which addressed some issues of infrastructure projects in the area, specifically the new Commissioner of the Barrio del Carmen.
The neighbors also have taken a number of concerns about the deterioration of various parts of the Barrio.
With respect to the police station of El Carmen, González Tovar has announced that the work is almost completed in accordance with the deadlines established for the concessionaire, and immediately will provide equipment (computer, files, etc..) And personal its implementation, which is scheduled for next April.
She said that the new police station has five floors (basement, ground, first, second and roof) and a construction area of 1,773 square meters.
In this regard, stressed that "in addition to a good physical condition because of their size, number of plants and distribution space, enjoys a magnificent location with accessibility conditions that make it suitable for the intended use."
He also underlined that the Commissioner of El Carmen will have a staff of about 50 agents of the National Police, and the installation will have a DNI Processing Office, one for Complaints, the General Archives of the Police Station and Archives Using Local Brigade and Secretariat, among other services.
Damaged areas of the District
With respect to the issues raised by neighbors about the damage that has been occurring in some areas of the district, the delegate of the Government have been informed that the Government of Spain, through the Housing Plan 2009-2012, provides for opportunity to develop 1,150 performances Comprehensive Rehabilitation Areas (ARIS) and another 220 for Urban Renewal Areas (ARUS).
Specifically, the ARIS are actions to improve residential areas functionally recovering historic areas, urban centers, degraded neighborhoods and rural areas requiring rehabilitation of homes and buildings, the elimination of substandard housing situations and assistance from development or redevelopment of public spaces
As for the ARUS, contemplates comprehensive neighborhood renewal or groups of buildings which may include demolition or replacement of buildings, development or redevelopment, building equipment and outfits, or better accessibility including, where appropriate, temporary relocations
In this sense, González Tovar recalled that development of these and other actions by the Ministry of Housing has funded the Plan with a total of 355 million euros and that aid has already been received in previous years under the 2005-2008 Plan , as is the case for interventions at Caramel House Abarán in the Barrio de San Cristobal in Lorca, in the Barrio de Santa Lucia in Cartagena, etc.
