Councillor for Health and Social Services, Fulgencio Cervantes, has participated this morning, with the Director General of Immigration and volunteering, Leopoldo Navarro, in the delivery of two vehicles to the Association of Friends of the Saharawi people of Murcia to carry out the commissioning up the project to obtain water resources in the Saharawi refugee camps and liberated areas of Western Sahara.

The health official has said that the City of Murcia has once again wanted to show their support and assistance to the Saharawi people to participation in this project and pointed out further that the partnership with the Friends of the Saharawi people of Murcia has been carried out since 1996.

The overall project objective is to improve the collection of water resources in the Saharawi refugee camps and liberated areas of Western Sahara.

This project is to increase the 30% allocation of water per person per day.

At present the average per person per day is 15 liters, 30 liters being the deemed essential by the World Health Organization.

It also aims to open new wells in the liberated areas to improve grazing conditions and facilitate stable new settlements in the same population.
