The system for collecting electronic signatures developed by the University of Murcia for the legislative initiative of the Platform in Defence of the Tajo-Segura will streamline the process and "opens up tremendous prospects," according to said one of its members, Andrés Hernández Ros.
The head of the Department of Information Technology and Communications Applied (ATIC), Tomás Jiménez, indicated during the presentation of the system, held in the building of Convalescence, "Citizens, through electronic ID may conclude from anywhere in the world with Internet access. "
Jiménez added that "this system, pioneer in Spain, has all the guarantees and has the approval of the Central Electoral Board, which was, of course, very demanding in the requirements imposed on us to give his approval" .
For his part, Hernandez Ros thanked the efforts made by the University and has commented that "prospects opening before us with this new system are immense," and added that in the signature campaign next week will make a presentation the procedure of electronic signatures in Madrid.
Professor, University of Murcia Julián Valero pointed out that the system presented today can be applied to other popular legislative initiatives on such controversial issues as abortion, Internet downloads and more.
The rector, José Antonio Cobacho, called the initiative for the Tajo-Segura "very important for the Region of Murcia and neighboring provinces," and welcomed the collaboration that the University has been able to provide to the Platform.
