The University of Murcia has presented today at the Convalescence a guide developed by the Counseling and Guidance Services Staff (CCES), belonging to the Vice President for Student and Employment, "a resource guide for college students with special needs."
The development of this tool is consistent, as noted by the coordinator of CCES, Professor Eva Herrera, with the commitment of the University of Murcia with students with disabilities, not surprisingly, this educational institution is the first of the Spanish classroom in number of students with special needs, with more than 600.
"The guide said Herrera, seeks to provide students with disabilities enrolled in the University on all services and resources available in the institution and encourage their participation in extracurricular activities, thus promoting integration and equal opportunities for all the students. "
The guide can find information about the accessibility of campus and university centers, on the adjustments and access to academic curriculum, the various mobility programs or regulations in the field of disability.
They also appear hosting resources, canteens and cafeterias, study halls and library, and all the dedicated services of the University students, among other content.
The rector of Students and Employment, Maribel Sanchez-Mora, welcomed the readiness of the institutions that have collaborated in the preparation of the guide (Ministry of Science and Innovation, Ministry of Universities, Business and Research and Murcia Institute of Social Action Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration) and highlighted the efforts of the University on disability, with measures such as free tuition for these students.
The CEO of Universities and Scientific Policy, Eduardo Osuna, referred in his speech to the change that has occurred in universities towards integrating students with disabilities and has promoted actions recalled his Ministry to promote equality and improve the accessibility on campus.
The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, CCES congratulated the team for its "excellent work" and announced that the collaboration with the University of Murcia in volunteering and disability will continue in the line that it "does not constitute an obstacle to the formation of people who suffer. "
The rector, José Antonio Cobacho, welcomed this new tool and encouraged to continue working for integration and equality of persons with special needs.
