The secretary general of the PSOE in the city of Murcia, Pedro López, accompanied by José Manuel Abellán Socialist councilor, and by the head of the Executive Mobility PSOE Murcia, Rafael Richart, presented a series of proposals to help solve in Murcia and districts "one of the biggest problems facing citizens in their daily lives: transportation."
Lee lamented the "lost years" by the City Council in relation to urban mobility, "for municipal officials have been engaged in putting patches, but not to undertake structural solutions demanded by the neighbors."
Use fewer private vehicles
Socialists believe that the future lies in policies that are used less by private vehicles, making it necessary to increase pedestrian and bike-only spaces "to make the city more pleasant and healthy, and more space for walking and leisure. "
To convince the public of the benefits and convenience of public transport, the Socialists propose to begin a series of immediate measures:
.
During a quarter, and experimentally, taking on Thursdays free to all public transport in the city, increasing the frequencies that day and night hours extending the lines.
This measure should give the necessary publicity for the city and neighboring parishes know it.
.
Implement the roundtrip ticket free for the space of two hours between runs.
.
Unify the ticket price to 1 euro and initiate the study to modify the lines and routes to optimize resources, and not to discriminate against districts with a higher price, as at present.
.
Intermodal card is inserted, quarterly, semiannual and annual, with a progressive cost down.
.
Free up space on public roads for the route of the bus.
.
Improve information and complete the shelters at stops, especially in the garden.
.
Create a network of park and ride, free and secure, that are connected with public transport.
.
Interconnect city and districts to bus, tram and bicycle lanes, and undertake studies to introduce elmetro-train in areas where the tram is not possible, as has been done in other Spanish cities.
.
And extend the tram line 1 to La Nora and Javalí Viejo, as these districts, joined together, total more than 6,000 inhabitants.
It would only be an extension of 300 meters on a scheduled run of 18 miles.
The Committee on House districts and excludes opposition
Socialists agree with the creation of a technical commission to study mobility in the city of Murcia announced by House, but believe that is deficient "because it includes representatives of municipal boards, although it is in the districts where the most severe problems, and because it excludes the political opposition (PSOE and IU), representing 40 percent of the citizens.
