The University of Murcia held tomorrow, day 28, the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas during a formal ceremony to be held in the Faculty of Economics and Business, Campus Espinardo, and that this time will also host the investiture as an honorary doctor of scientist Alan Kay.
The event will start at 11:30 pm with the awards to career and special awards of PhD, to be followed by the inauguration of new doctors.
After delivery of the medals to the dedication university shall do the same with the prize "Rector Soler" academic performance, to be followed by Kay's investiture as Doctor Honoris Causa by the educational institution.
Alan Kay, who will be presented by computer science professor and former dean Jesus Garcia Molina, has, among other awards, the "Turing", which is considered the Nobel of computer science.
This prestigious award was granted to establish the foundations of object-oriented programming, which led him to create the language "Smalltalk" in the early seventies, and also for their contributions to the development of personal computers.
