The Mayor confirmed that Murcia will continue as principal sponsor in 2010 RFEC
"The Red" is the jersey of the Spanish National Team.
The kit has had its official launch in Murcia, just days before it begins to cross the pavement to mark the Cyclocross World Championships to be held next weekend in Tábor (Czech Republic).
The Mayor, Miguel Angel House, and President of the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation, Juan Carlos Castano, presided over the ceremony that was held this morning in the city of Murcia.
There have also been cited in the presentation, Deputy Mayor of Sports, Miguel Cascales, besides the Director General of the RFEC, José Griñán, President of the Federation of Murcia, José López Tortosa, national road coach, José Luis de Santos, and cyclocross national coach, Francisco Pla, as well as Spain's cyclocross champion, Javier Ruiz de Larrinaga and Rocío Gamonal, Olympic runner and mountain biking, José Antonio Hermida.
The three athletes will debut "The Red" in the world championship to be held in Tábor.
As with other sports teams that represent and Spain, cycling also wanted to choose red as the most representative and genuine.
As was the case in 2008, this appears as a dominant color, combined with yellow piping.
The Mayor was pleased that Murcia was the city chosen for the official presentation of the new kit of the Spanish National Team and recalled that a city is closely linked to the sport.
Also, House has confirmed that in 2010 Murcia will remain as title sponsor of the RFEC.
An agreement in 2009 has allowed cyclists of different national teams in different categories-elite UCI, U-23 and junior, both male and female, might carry the name of the city in all tests in which they participated in competitions track, road, trial, cyclocross, BMX and mountain biking.
