The Governing Council of the University of Murcia approved the creation of a herbarium in order to be used for both teaching and research purposes.

The Council also approved the performance standards and use, according to the proposal prepared by the Department of Plant Biology, which depend organically.

The herbarium is composed of several collections of bryophytes, lichens and others, in addition to any other material that may be provided by natural or legal persons.

This new service will be based in the building, "Rector Soler, Espinardo campus and will have the necessary staff.

Have a director, appointed by the rector of the University, and a leading conservative.
