The Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs (MARM), through the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura (CHS) has begun work flow recirculation and conditioning of the Segura river spots in the urban section of the city of Murcia .
The planned investment for this action amounts to EUR 9,409,971.75 and is running the Joint Venture Company formed by Sogeosa and General Group.
The work involves the effective multiplication of the flow of Segura, which currently has an average of only 300 liters per second and reached down to 100 liters in some cases.
The increase in the amount of circulating water is not only a landscape improvement, but also have a positive impact on the biological health of the river, as it is precisely the lack of resources responsible for most episodes of fish kills, foaming and odors.
The action involves the discharge of a maximum flow of 2 cubic meters per second (m3 / s) who joins the flow rate for the urban stretch of the River Segura, and 1 m3 / s will capture the river itself, having to run for it making a play on the same, and the rest of the flow (1 m3 / s) is taken from the effluent of sewage Murcia-East.
The flow rate will be conducted from the filter and through a discharge pipe of 11,500 meters in length and 1,200 mm in diameter, until existing flume downstream near the Contraparada, near the corner Illanes.
To attract flows has designed a weir on the type of inflatable dam on the river, next to the sewage output of Murcia-East, which can be deflated at will, besides having an automatic deflating the dam when they high flows, as in the case of floods, allowing free passage and protecting the inflatable dam itself
The planned activities consist mainly in the following:
- Construction of intake structure consisting of the acquisition with a mouthpiece and tubing, a 1.50 meter inflatable dam from foundation to crest, bottom drains through two ducts, a control booth and protections of rockfill dam upstream and downstream dam.
- Construction of a pumping station.
- Establishment of a pipeline for recirculation flow, through installation of 11,500 meters of pipe length, the Left Bank.
- Running the river by a return to work delivery and a dissipation of energy.
- Conditioning of speckles by increasing the width of 3.50 meters to 6 meters, varying the flush, fill with topsoil and hydroseeding of making existing spots in the riverbed.
- Establishment of environmental and landscape measures, both prior to the execution of works during implementation.
This action complies with the principles of the Ministry of Environment and Rural and Marine Affairs, which include projects to improve management and water supply line with existing and future needs related to the development of the territories economically sustainable, social and environmental impacts, including drought and measures for the preservation of public water and spaces associated with them.
