The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, you will receive prize tonight Oral Health Promotion which has been granted by the General Council of Colleges of Dentistry and Stomatology of Spain.
The event, held in Madrid, will be attended by some 200 people and is chaired by the prime minister, Manuel Alfonso Villa Vigil, and will also be attended by the President of the College of Dentistry and Stomatology of Murcia, Oscar Castro.
The oral health program for children and the agreement for preferential treatment for older people with limited resources launched by the city of Murcia are two programs that have received the recognition of Spanish dentists.
For over 15 years and through the School Health Program, children 6 to 12 years the town go to the municipal offices of Beautiful Plaza to make their revisions and fluoride application, and are referred to appropriate services when they require other care.
More recently, in 2005, launched another program to offer a preferred oral care to the elderly, through the municipal social services.
Through this initiative, pensioners who need prostheses, can use this service if their cost exceeds the benefit provided free health care system.
