The UI for Education in the Region, Diego Reina, today urged the Minister of Education, Constantine Sotoca, to solve the shortcomings of the Institute Rector Francisco Sabater García, situated in the hamlet of Cabezo de Torres Murcia.
Queen has stressed that the needs of the center are the empowerment of eight classrooms, the adequacy of the gym and an area for the Association of Parents of Pupils (AMPA) as well as an information point for students.
In line with the demands of the AMPA and the management team of the institute, has also called for the creation of a room to meet the parents, another for faculty, departments, a multipurpose room and space for physics laboratories and drawing , among others.
Reina has stated that the Director General of Department, María José Jiménez, "has been unable to resolve this situation at the last meeting with the AMPA, arguing that the budgets of the Autonomous Community were already closed, when requests date back to 2007" .
It has also asked Sotoca include these needs in the infrastructure plan of the Second Social Pact for Education, recalling that the said institute was planned for 400 students, though at present has about 700.
According to Reina, the location of the center shows the "mismatch" between the General Directorates of the Ministry of Education and the "lack of political impetus to improve and advance public education in the Region of Murcia."
