The International Year of Astronomy, developed over the year 2009, has commemorated the 400th anniversary of Galileo's telescopic observations and the centenary of the beginning of a new era in astronomy: the first experiments that led to the discovery of cosmic rays .
The University of Murcia has been added to these celebrations with the celebration of various cultural activities held throughout the year such as lectures, competitions, courses and exhibitions, all from the hands of experts and scientists.
With the end of the year, this season also comes to an end: on Friday 18 December will take place the closing ceremony, to be held in the Aula Mariano Baquero, Faculty of Arts.
The event will be chaired by Francisco Guillermo Díaz Baños, Vice Chancellor of University Extension, in a program that includes a projection of images that graphically summarize activities during the 2009 and the awards to all participants of the workshops drawing and writing the Service of Culture events held during the University Welcome.
The event will culminate with a concert that will be borne by Carmen Lawrence Monerri (Soprano), Luis Ferran Lanz (Cello) and José Antonio Clemente Buhlal (guitar).
