The engineers of Roads, Channels and Ports of the Region have proposed today to the Municipality of Murcia which are technical and scientific guidelines which take precedence and govern, with the feeling city, municipal proposal to restrict traffic in the Avenida da Liberdade Murcia, currently in a period of public exposure.
Juan Guillamón, dean of the College Murcia Demarcation of Civil Engineers, Canales y Puertos (CICCP), today announced the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, allegations and agreed technical comments by professionals they represent.
Guillamón ensures that "pedestrian historic city center is good for cities, as this is able to regain the public space for citizens," but argues, however, that the draft plan should be part of a global mobility for the whole town and, therefore, be coordinated with the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of the municipality of Murcia, which is currently drafting.
Thus, the pedestrian will have to be compatible, among others, studies of extended tram line 1, also in writing, and the process of restructuring and reorganization of all bus lines they entail.
In addition, civil engineers claim that "technically, the pedestrian should be done in principle in the narrow streets and later progress to the wider, which by its nature reserve to structure the traffic and ensure public transport and mobility" .
