The meetings industry in 2008 generated an economic impact of 46.7 million euros

The Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara, has confirmed the "final push" to the construction of the new Palacio de Congresos de Murcia, which is located in the north of the city in an area with excellent communications, on a plot 30% higher which holds the current auditorium.

The result indicates a significant increase over figures recorded the previous four years (2004 to 2007) in which they performed an average of 633 meetings with 100,773 attendees.
The Convention Bureau of Murcia was founded in 1998 by the City Council, with the collaboration of public and private services sector, with the main objective of promoting Murcia as the seat of congresses, conventions and meetings.
Under the name of Association Members Collaborating Murcia Convention Bureau are associated with companies such as Office travel agencies, bus rental, car rental with driver, audiovisual and multimedia companies, florists, hotels, event agencies , booth rental, printing, Terra Natura, business guides and hostesses, interpreting and translation companies, conference organizers and merchandise and gifts.
