The First International Congress of Victimology and Latin American Human Rights victimale, held until 16 December in the Auditorium of the University of Murcia, presented today at the opening ceremony, the International Awards of Victimology and for Defending Victims to 2009.
The prizes were awarded to Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Murcia Jaime Peris, the president of the Brazilian Institute of Human Rights, César Barros, and Professor of the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina) Hilda Marchiori.
After the awards ceremony, the rector of the University of Murcia, José Antonio Cobacho, inaugurated this conference which deals with criminal matters and victimale Spanish specialists and countries such as Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina.
The opening ceremony also included interventions José Gabriel Ruiz, secretary general of the Presidential and Public Administrations of the Region, Esperanza Orihuela, dean of the Faculty of Law, and Pedro Angel Rubio, a professor at the University of Murcia and director Scientific Congress.
The conference is organized by the Foundation of Victimology and the Faculty of Law, University of Murcia.
