Cobacho said that the official decision has wanted to make it known in the organ most represented university, which met in the auditorium of the University in regular session.
The chancellor will meet in the coming months four years in office and if elected will lead the university for another period of equal duration.
The Senate also elected Palazón José Manuel Espinosa, a professor at the Faculty of Chemistry, University as the new Ombudsman.
Espinosa Palazón happens in the post to also professor of the Faculty Augustine Miñana Aznar, who leaves office for his retirement.
The agenda included the appointment of Prof. Manuel Hernández Córdoba as president of the Central Electoral Board.
The highest representative body of the university approved the award of "honorary doctorates" to Jose Manuel Sánchez-Vizcaíno, a proposal from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and Alan Kay, a proposal by the Department of Information and Systems.
Sánchez-Vizcaíno currently serves as Professor of Animal Health at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and consultant to organizations such as the National Veterinary Alert, the UN and WHO in the areas of virology and prion.
The scientific contributions of Professor Sánchez-Vizcaíno have contributed significantly to the control of African swine fever, African horse sickness and classical swine fever with the development of new diagnostic methods and reagents for rapid and sensitive, new epidemiological strategies and new generation vaccines .
Alan Kay, meanwhile, was a pioneer in object-oriented programming language and creator of Smalltalk, contributions to the development of personal computers led him to the realization, in 2003, Turing Award, considered the Nobel of computer science.
