The new Day Care Centre for Alzheimer 'La Blanca Paloma' was opened today in the village of Murcia Zarandona by the Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, along with the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, and managing director of the Institute of Social Action Murciano, Maria Isabel Sola.
The facility has capacity to serve 24 users suffering from Alzheimer's major or other type of neurodegenerative disease associated with old age.
The center began operations last May and now has five users, three who attend every day and two that make it to the needs of their families.
Next month is expected to add two more.
This is a private center, managed by Gerontomur, SL, located in Calle San Félix, number 6 of that hamlet and is directed by Maria del Carmen Spain.
Its main objective is that within a cozy and familiar, are exercised and kept preserved cognitive abilities of older people by psychostimulation techniques to achieve improved quality of life of these people, the benefit of itself and the family environment.
Provides care Monday through Friday, from 8:30 to 19:30, with psychology services, ATS and Physiotherapy.
In the region there are 938 public places in Day Care Centers, of which 289 are from patients with Alzheimer's.
Of the total seats, 375 are owned and funded 563.
