The Ministry of Agriculture and Water today delivered 45 new licenses Environmental Compensation Association of Young Entrepreneurs of the Region for the project "My company has planted a forest for you ', involving the planting of 3,000 pine trees in an area Regional Park environment and Carrascoy Valley, degraded by water erosion.
Councilor Antonio Cerda said that with this project, "the 45 participating companies have voluntarily offset emissions of greenhouse gases generated by their daily activity, increasing the forest in a degraded area which may well hold water, generate biomass , oxygen and fertile soil, and absorb large amounts of CO2. "
Cerdá participated in the symbolic planting of 'Pinus Halepensis' made today by members of this association, noting that the planted species "are able to withstand adverse weather conditions."
He stressed that "each hectare of forest replanted in the region accounts for about 5 tonnes of CO2 a year."
So for every 1,000 trees planted, which occupy an area of 2 hectares with a density of 500 plants per hectare, there would be compensation between 5 and 10 tonnes of CO2 a year.
