The Mayor has chaired this morning the formation and first meeting of the Internal Energy Committee, composed of department heads or managers of industries related to it, for the Environment Councillor, Adela Martinez-Cache and the Local Energy Agency Climate Change and Murcia (ALEM).
The main objective of this committee is to reduce energy consumption in the City analyzing and controlling energy costs and boosting performance in energy efficiency more profitable.
The creation of this Committee is part of Energy Action Plan which aims to Sustainable Energy, by 2020, emissions of greenhouse gases by 20% decrease in the municipality.
His main priorities are based on municipal energy consumption reduction, Efficient Construction and Urban Planning, Sustainable Urban Mobility Shares, offsetting greenhouse gas and Education and public awareness.
At this meeting have been addressed, in addition, the actions already implemented and which seeks to reduce municipal energy consumption by 10%.
So, are already introducing an energy efficiency and energy savings in the valuation of contracts and awards and are being incorporated into vehicles powered by alternative fuels in the municipal fleet.
One of the most prominent examples of the important energy policy that is taking place in the City is related to street lighting, as one of the sectors in which they can achieve major energy savings.
93% of the lamps installed in the street are high sodium vapor pressure, which saves energy, and better visibility.
Likewise, it has approved the new ordinance on energy efficiency in lighting.
With these and other measures have reduced consumption by almost 9%.
Some concrete measures are already being considered, the result of energy audits conducted in municipal buildings, are the training of municipal staff responsible for maintaining or replacing diesel boilers with natural gas, biomass or solar support.
