The President of the Autonomous Community, Ramón Luis Valcárcel, opened this afternoon at Santa Clara de Murcia, sculpture 'The Fool of the bells', a piece of three meters in bronze by artist Mariano González Beltrán Murcia , symbolizing the human capacity to alter the precarious balance of their environment.
The ceremony was also attended by Carlos Egea, president of Cajamurcia and its Foundation, an institution that has donated to the city the monument of the mayor of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Cámara, and author of the piece, Mariano González Beltrán.
The sculpture, which recreates one of the most popular reasons for production of the artist, depicts a jester wearing his characteristic hat and carrying rattles the belly wrap a colorful belt of bells made from a canning jars.
The figure, reflective attitude, will stand upright on a split globe as a symbol of the risks that threaten our environment.
'The Fool of the bells' also evokes childhood passages in Javalí Nuevo González Beltrán, when, based on cans and stones, so improvised homemade instruments whose sound would scare the birds to protect crops and fruit trees.
This sculpture joins other major works of González Beltrán present in the urban area of the city of Murcia, as the Human Rights Monument Plaza de Santo Domingo, sculpture 'Salzillo Murcia', from St. Augustine , or that pays tribute to actor Francisco Rabal aquiline in Plaza Santa Gertrudis.
