The Department of Safety and Traffic is still working on the implementation of various initiatives to improve the safety of all Murcia.
Today is the turn of Equipment Protection and Family Services (EPAF) to the council that directed Nuria Fuentes has put in place to assist victims of domestic violence and domestic support work by the Security Forces State, since they have the competence in this area.
The EPAF is composed of a place and five local police officers, all women, which will be dressed in plain clothes and unmarked cars will be moved in order to achieve greater discretion in their actions.
These six officers have conducted a training course for 40 hours theoretical and practical, with the participation of judges, prosecutors, staff of the Institute of Women, domestic violence lawyers, social workers and psychologists, and members of other bodies and State Security Forces and other local police.
To support this unit, has formed a team of 21 mixed pairs, will be responsible for performing the first operation until it go this specialized equipment.
The aim with this new unit is to serve and protect personal emergencies, assist victims where they require, advise and report on the steps after being attacked and keep track of restraining orders.
Its main objective is to minimize the vulnerability in which the victim is, preventing it from happening again these situations and intervene effectively in the already given.
Thus, after the assault, the EPAF continue working with victims to monitor the situation of family violence, both calls and personal visits

In 2008, the local police made a total of 324 proceedings related to domestic violence in which 227 people were arrested and 132 were issued restraining orders and protection.
From January to September 2009, 272 actions have been, 198 detainees and 143 restraining orders and protection.
Remember that Murcia is the first municipality in the entire region to have a team of these features, thereby meeting one of the election pledges of the Mayor, Miguel Ángel Cámara.
