Councillor for Izquierda Unida-Los Verdes de Murcia, Esther Herguedas has today welcomed the statement of Unesco joined the Board of Murcia Good Men to a representative list

heritage to be preserved.

This appointment marks the recognition of good work of centuries of an institution that has been collecting all the conventional wisdom regarding the proper use and management of water, but it affects only the institution but also on the material elements that intangible heritage rests.

2 of the Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Unesco said:

The term "intangible cultural heritage" means the practices, representations, expressions, knowledge and techniques, together with the instruments, objects, artefacts and cultural spaces associated therewith-that communities, groups and, in some cases, individuals recognize as part integral to their cultural heritage.

Therefore, the UNESCO statement is not only a recognition of the institution

sino que es sobre todo un instrumento que debe de activar los mecanismos para que la protección del bien cultural y por lo tanto del patrimonio asociado sea real y efectiva.
