El Palacio Almudí shows "Bullfighting" seen by the Murcia Antonio Sanchez (10/09/2009)

All sets of bullfighting seen by the painter Antonio Sánchez Murcia.

The exhibition 'Bullfighting', that from now until October 12 can be seen in the Exhibition Hall of the Palace Almudí, collects nearly 80 oils on canvas, board and cardboard and six sketches and drawings that the artist reflects perfectly the different moments of a bullfight.

Paseíllo, shank, picaores, flags ...

are reflected in this exhibition of paintings in which the figures are not static but appear to move and which also includes some still lifes bullfighting motif.

The artist perfectly captures the atmosphere of the bullfight and the culture of bullfighting.

Antonio Sanchez, born in Murcia in 1965, has been interested for several years on bullfighting whose fruit are these paintings, although it is known for his landscapes and still lifes especially colorful.

In 1978 he began his studies in painting with José Hipólito Miguélez, being in 1981 when he entered the School of Arts and Crafts in Murcia.

Among other places, Sanchez has exhibited in Valencia, Madrid, Paris, Florence and Bologna and has worked with the festivals in Murcia is the author of Spring Festival Poster in 1998.

Pictorial Heritage Hall, in the Hall of Columns Almudí

The City shows some of its vast and rich heritage in a Municipal Pictorial exhibition can be seen in the Hall of Columns at the Palace Almudí until next November 8.

A set of 27 prints plus 5 paintings that form the sample is a small selection of Murcia heritage that keeps the City Council and which are constantly enriched with new additions and acquisitions through the years.

These works come from museums, theaters, offices and other municipal buildings, and can now be enjoyed by all Murcia

Among the artists that make this show stand out Pedro Sánchez Picard, Joaquin, Luis Garay, Pedro Flores, Costa Almela, Ramón Gaya, Antonio Cano Gómez, Mariano Ballester, Carpe Hernández, José María Falgas, Aurelio, Angel Hernansáez, Pedro Serna, Vicente Ruiz , Lapayese del Río, José Luis Cacho, Fulgencio Saura Pacheco and Francisco Cánovas

Through the years and through various aid projects and promoting the artists, the City of Murcia has been collecting significant funds in their heritage.

Sometimes the painting was sold by the artists donating scholarships from the institution, while at other times the pictures were acquired in the Painting Competition since 1943, the City Council organized the exhibition of Painting and Sculpture at the Spring Festival.

The last big push for these funds was the creation of Murcia City Awards from 1969 until well into the 70 were carried out in our city.
