Systematic cognitive training in patients with Parkinson's disease contributes to their rehabilitation, as one of the conclusions of the doctoral thesis in the Department of Human Anatomy and Psychobiology, University of Murcia.
This research, conducted by Cristina Otero Nombela, has uncovered that "cognitive training has positive effects on the economy of functional resources involved, ie, the brain activation pattern applied to solve a task," says thesis.
To carry out the study, the author analyzed the results obtained in eight patients who underwent six months training program and were compared with those who did not follow him.
The doctoral thesis has been conducted by Professor Vicente García, María Trinidad Herrero and Jaime Kulisevsky.
