Murcia Archaeological Museum traces the history of the Roman Theatre of Cartagena (08/08/2009)

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, through the Directorate General of Fine Arts and Cultural Rights, introduced in days past the shows' history of a discovery.

History of a project: The Roman Theatre of Cartagena ', which can be seen in the Archaeological Museum of Murcia until 20 September.

The exhibition takes visitors back to what it meant the discovery of the Roman Theater in one of the most deprived districts of the city, and the story of his recovery.

He noted that "the recovery of the theater has been valued by experts and the proof is the interest aroused in the scientific community seminars that the museum has made to explain the intervention process."

The exhibition, which was set out in the Museo del Teatro Romano, is divided into four thematic blocks collected through photos, text and graphic material varied the recovery process of the monument.

It starts in the evolution of the archaeological work, continue with the parameters of its restoration and development of comprehensive project, designed by architect Rafael Moneo.

In addition, a selection of archaeological takes visitors to the regular work of documenting the items recovered during the excavation, from the documentation of context to its catalog, plotting and restoration.

The project can be integrated with a model to visualize in three dimensions the complexity of the museum display from the lower altitudes of the city to the interior of the monument and the adequacy of their environment.

Complete shows the projection of a video that graphically and with the addition of virtual images tells all the vicissitudes of the Roman Theatre since its discovery to date with all the features of Roman building and their avatars to over the centuries.

On the occasion of the exhibition taking place about educational workshops, Tuesday to Friday morning, with the aim of bringing the building's history to children between 8 and 12 years.

It has also published a brochure, in English and Castilian, which contains all the intervention process in the theater.

The Roman Theatre in Cartagena Museum, which celebrated its first anniversary last month, received a total of 160,000 visits in its first year of opening.
