The Councillor of Tourism & Conventions, Maria Isabel Valcarcel, held a working meeting with representatives of the Association of Professional Organizers of Conferences, Exhibitions Fairs and Meetings of the Region of Murcia, Antonio Garcia presiding.
Within this meeting has reviewed the current market convention and meeting new proposals for the coming months, working committees will be organized to create the "card congressman."
The association performs consulting, planning and organization for the organization of congresses, fairs, conventions and other events.
In collaboration with the City Council seeks to empower Murcia Murcia as the seat of all types of meetings.
The Convention Bureau, created in 1998, aims to promote destination Murcia as national and international conferences.
Our city has become an ideal destination for congresses, and the proof is that this sector last year generated 46.7 million euros, arising from the organization of 1,008 meetings, with 127,120 participants.
Most meetings are held in hotels (56.75%), 12% in the Auditorium and Congress Center and a 31.21% in the University and other venues.
In terms of sectors engaged in congress, 79% are private companies and public institutions 21%.
The medical field with a 27.63% Congress is the most celebrated, followed by economic and commercial, with 26.97% and culture (17.54%).
