Bicycle users can enjoy the first installment of the bike lane, which links the Malecon and UCAM within a few months.
The Governing Board has given approval to the provisional award of section 1 of the bike lane between the Paso del Malecón and the Catholic University of Murcia, SL Someda Construction Company in the amount of 110,145 euros.
This section measured 6.6 km and the route will start at the existing rail that runs along the river Mota, through the oxbow between Rincon de Seca and Beniscornia Corner, Cherry Lane and the road until you reach Guadalupe the UCAM.
Moreover, the stretch that links the town with the Campus de Espinardo will stretch 4.4 miles and exit Avenida Juan Carlos I.
In this way we aim to a well-articulated network of roads cycling trails that circle the city of Murcia and connect two of the most used by users of bicycles in the city are two universities.
These routes will be added the other actions that the City of Murcia is planning to undertake to promote the use of bike lanes throughout the municipality.
The City Council is expected that the whole project of connecting the university campus is ready before the end of the year.
The total cost of the entire project is estimated at almost 400,000 euros, and was made possible thanks to an agreement with the Department of Public Works of the region.
