The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Pedro Alberto Cruz, this morning presented the exhibition 'Replay Does this relate to the past? ", With the artist Monique Bastiaans (Belgium, 1954).
With this exhibition, which opens tomorrow at 20:30 am and will remain in the Museo de Bellas Artes de Murcia until 30 September, continues the series 'Async', which aims to "create a dialogue between contemporary artists and those who make the Museum's permanent collection, which correspond to different periods of art history is a dialogue between past and present, between non-synchronous times, different and in some cases, antagonistic, "said Cruz.
In 'Replay', Bastiaans presents ten works in that part "of a reverse concept of time," said the regional head of Culture, which "breaks with the linear time can only move in one direction."
Thus, the artist opens the past to the possibility of being changed, ie, the past is not as dead, monolithic and static but from successive reinterpretations that are made in the present, and this is the spirit of a program of exhibitions such as asynchrony, you can transform the past. "
For his part, explained that the sample Bastiaans intend to alter the sense of time and space in the museum, so that time is perceived horizontal, chronological time and the vertical time, overlapping time.
Asynchronies
In the project 'Async', five contemporary artists display their work alongside that of the permanent collection of Mubam.
Have participated in the same Santiago Ydáñez (October-December 2008), Angel Haro (February-April 2009) and Eugenio Ampudia (May-June 2009).
