IU + Greens in the city of Murcia has filed a motion in Parliament next Thursday, July 23, which calls for the creation of a comprehensive plan to expand areas of shaded area in streets, plazas, gardens and courtyards of schools the municipality.
IU + Councillor for the Greens in Murcia, Esther Herguedas, said at a news conference that extending the shaded area should be a "priority" for the session, and criticized that there are fewer gray areas because many trees are dried for lack of care as some are removed.
He also assured that the works undertaken in recent months on the streets of the hamlets and village by the central and regional executives "have been used to remove some trees that shaded area and tree pits were empty."
He added that "any excuse serves to remove the shade trees or replace them with small size of a decorative nature, but no effectiveness for shelter from the sun", which sum, he added, many of the species were dried for lack care.
He therefore proposed the creation of an inventory of alcorques eliminated as part of the works and reinstatement, while demanded the development of rules by requiring that the new gardens are equipped with shaded areas and areas of woodland.
He also raised the need for a plan shaded area in the yards of schools, including the planting of trees and tree pits within the new irrigation mechanisms whose operation is verified through periodic inspections.
