Murcia City Council, through the Department of Environment, who heads Adela Martinez-cache, and Program was Murcia, has fueled the emergency restoration of the monument to De la Cierva, a sculptor who is Paco Toledo located on the Paseo de Garay, opposite the Palace of Justice.
The deterioration of this important group of sculptures by the passage of the years (it was inaugurated on July 23, 1973) has recommended an extensive restoration which will return all its glory.
So, will undertake the consolidation of the central part of the monument, which has detected the appearance of cracks.
The sculptor Francisco Toledo, who died in 2004, was Professor of Modeling and Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Madrid.
Although the author has developed much of his artistic life in Rome, Paris and Madrid, Murcia has one of his greatest works, the monument to De La Cierva, inventor of the autogyro, with whom he won a prize housed.
Toledo was a pupil of Clement Cantos, Luis Garay, Moreno and González Sánchez Lozano.
The restoration of the piece is framed in the rehabilitation of the Chinese garden, the second phase completed in the coming weeks.
Thus, in addition to recover the important work of Toledo, will be rearranged that area of the garden and removed some hedges for Murcia and tourists to admire.
