The UCAM held from 1 to 31 July, an extensive program of volunteer activities in different locations in the region.
The activities, organized by the International Institute of Charity and Volunteer John Paul II, as part of the Summer University UCAM 2009 include a summer school for the care of disabled persons, a workshop on summer activities for children at Home for Children in La Manga and a summer school for the care of children with cerebral palsy and social exclusion.
Both the volunteer service coordinator of the UCAM, Rainer Gehrig, and Secretary, Ricardo Lafuente, positively have pondered the conclusion of these courses, "which shows the commitment of students and volunteers from the Catholic University of voluntary social action" .
Explains Gehrig, voluntary activities undertaken by the UCAM as part of the Summer University are focused so much attention to people with disabilities and their families, like work for children with cerebral palsy and in exclusion social, singled in workshops in the humanities, theater, crafts and field trips, among other activities.
"The work of our volunteers is a great support to many organizations and institutions in sociocaritativo as ASTRAPACE, FUNDAMIFP, or the Congregation of the Missionary Sisters of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, serving children from the districts of La Paz and Vistabella, in Murcia, "Gehrig said.
