Guitarists Five national and three international organizations participated in the fourth edition of 'Niño Ricardo' (02/07/2009)

The Director of Fine Arts and Cultural Heritage, Enrique Ujaldón, today introduced the IV International Guitar Competition 'Niño Ricardo', to be held at the Museum of Fine Arts of Murcia on Wednesday and Thursday, 8 and 9 July respectively .

Involving five artists, of Almeria, Cadiz, Granada, Barcelona and Madrid, and three international, Italy, Poland and Costa Rica, selected by a jury, as well as performances in two galas, Alba Carmona & Quartet Galiu and Rocío Márquez Limón.

Ujaldón, who was accompanied by guitarist Carlos Cartagena Piñana, competition coordinator also stressed that "this year the success of the competition was evident, with a total of 27 enrolled, including 15 national and 12 international, which demonstrates the prestige Murcia Region in terms of festivals in this category, which serve as a showcase for artists to make themselves known. "

The jury, chaired by the director general, is composed by Felix Grande, Victor Monje (Serranito), Norberto Torres Cortés, and Carlos Piñana.

The competition is equipped with three awards, the first valued at 5,000 euros, the second with 1,000 euros and a flamenco guitar Brothers Sanchis López, and third prize, especially for guitar players of other nationalities, with 2,500 euros.

The festival will this year with two flamenco galas, the first will be Wednesday night with a performance by Alba Carmona & Quartet Galiu where Spanish classical and flamenco music are fused by the sound of guitars.

The second, scheduled for Thursday night's final match of the competition, which will act Rocío Márquez Limón Quartet, singer who was awarded in August 2008 with the 'Mining Lamp' International Festival of Cante de las Minas de La Unión, which is the top prize at the international flamenco.
