Murcia City Council requested the Ministry of Culture building a paleontological park in El Palmar to preserve the remains of mastodons appeared during construction of the A-30, in the area of Puerto de la Cadena.
In addition, the City Development requires that paralyze the earthmoving works in the area where the remains have appeared and asked the Ministry to bring safety and security measures to prevent thefts and depredations.
The discovery was made near the Venta La Paloma, the old link between the Murcia-Cartagena motorway and the hospital in Arrixaca.
The remains found in the works of the highway have 7 million years old.
