The Department of Health and Human Services, which runs Fulgencio Cervantes, has met in 2008 to 40,000 people in its program of welcome and integration of immigrants and tutoring.
This is a global initiative, covering areas such as education, housing, shelter and social services, which will be allocated 1.5 million euros, according to today approved the Board of Governors.
Specifically, this initiative aims to work with immigrants in various fields.
On the issue of acceptance, the City Council develops programs in cooperation with associations, for the reception of immigrants, supervised apartments and room service.
As for education, immigrant children involved in school enrichment activities, summer schools, special educational activities for this group and leisure activities and leisure.
Immigrant children represent 11% of the population under 16 years of the municipality.
In 2008, there were 387 children who participated in standardization programs for immigrants, 215 were part of Project Activities with Children (PAI), and 290 immigrant children have participated in local summer schools.
In addition, partnerships are managed programs for the immigrant population access to housing.
Social Services serves this population through primary care and there is also an office on Asylum Store for the immigrant population.
This office spent the last year 861 people.
Within this project is carrying out awareness campaigns and training courses are offered to technicians working in partnership.
The immigrant population accounts for 11.54% of the total population of the municipality.
