The Spanish Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature has established that Murcia is an example of good practice to halt biodiversity loss within the Countdown 2010 network.
The agency has produced a guide that includes two initiatives of the City: The land stewardship agreement with the associations and Adesga Columbares and leisure gardens.
The first project include serving to restore the ecosystem, maintain the traditional use of land and wildlife study, as well as environmentally educate children and adults in order to strengthen agricultural employment in the vicinity of the SPA.
For its part, according to the Spanish Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, leisure gardens can not miss the local crop varieties by other more productive business.
Thanks to this initiative are used as farmland municipal social orchards under organic production systems and recover and preserve traditional and local varieties of the Huerta de Murcia.
Countdown 2010 is a network of institutions around the world working to halt biodiversity loss by 2010.
Thus, it publishes a database in which we explain the actions taken by the various members of the program, to facilitate the exchange of experiences.
