Scientists at the University of Murcia develop research, funded by ERDF and the Ministry of Science and Innovation, which aims to study post-harvest conservation and the rooting of carnation cuttings.
The research team led by Professor Miguel Acosta Echeverría studied the morphological characteristics of the cuttings to find varietal differences justify the different strategies of water economy and optimize the selection process.
Also aims to determine the hormonal requirements and analyze the mobilization of carbohydrates to optimize the process of rooting cuttings.
Scientists try to understand how a root is formed and how environmental changes affect this process.
