The City Council tomorrow will begin the renovation of sidewalks and lighting in Gran Via without interrupting traffic (25/05/2009)

Improving the image of one of the major arteries of the city and give it more accessible to pedestrians is the goal that the City of Murcia is to meet with the draft work of renewal of sidewalks and lighting in Gran Vía sculptor Francisco Salzillo that will start tomorrow Tuesday, May 26, and whose implementation project is two months.

Councillors Infrastructure and Security, José Arce and Nuria Fuentes, respectively, met this morning with traders from the center of the city to let them know the project works and explain how they will carry out such actions.

The works will be done in tranches to avoid inconvenience to businesses and without encroaching on the road.

Tomorrow, Tuesday performances will begin with the rush of water and sanitation, while May 28 will begin the demolition of sidewalks.

To avoid problems for merchants, it is intended to emphasize the works in the peak hours of age (early morning and noon), so there will be several shifts.

Loading and unloading of material will be made on the six or seven in the morning in order not to disrupt traffic.

According to the projections will need to download a total of 68 truckloads of material.

The works are made from the Plaza to Plaza Martínez Fuensanta Tornel.

The materials to be used will be granite curbs and granite flooring in white and black in various sizes and six inches thick.

As for the renewal of the lighting, it is noteworthy that they will eliminate the current 30 columns and will total 60 points of light, 11 meters high and double light with low power LEDs placed at 9 and 4.70 meters high.
