Research conducted at the University of Murcia has uncovered the system that have the fish to defend against pathogens.

This is called piscidins molecules, which are present only in the most advanced fish such as bream and sea bass.

The study was conducted by the investigator Ivan Mulero as part of his doctoral thesis, which was upheld a year ago.

Noga, University of North Carolina (USA), and Victorino Mulero, Alfonso Garcia and Jose Meseguer, Department of Cell Biology and Histology, University of Murcia.

The results of this research have been published in the journal "Development and Comparative Immunoloy."
