The government delegate in the Region of Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, presented this morning the draft Remodeling and Adaptation of the previous Post Office building at the railroad station of El Carmen, to the South Precinct National Police .
The works for construction of the South Precinct of Murcia have been awarded to Villegas SL Construction for an amount of 617,185 euros and will be directed by architect Manuel Ángel Sánchez Marcos.
The expected lead time is 8 months.
The ceremony was attended by numerous representatives of neighborhood associations and other groups of citizens of the neighborhoods and districts in the area of influence of the new police station, El Carmen, Barriomar, St. Pius X, El Progreso, Aljucer and Patiño.
The Government delegate reported that the building that was formerly courier or post office facilities attached to the railway station of El Carmen, was hired by ADIF for the construction of this police station. It consists of five floors (basement, ground, first second and cover) and a construction area of 1,773 square meters.

Minor reforms to the existing structure, forging close gaps, substitution of flights of stairs that violate the rules, reinforcement of foundation and structure, etc.

Replacement of structural elements (interior and exterior carpentry, covering, sanitary appliances) that are outdated and do not meet current requirements.

Modification of the outer skin of the building, removing obsolete items, improving the sealing and thermal insulation and acoustic elements that compose it (walls, roof).
Tovar González noted that "the aim is to get a picture of the set date, easy to identify and institutional, as befits a police station."
He also said he was "satisfied that a work as required and demanded by the residents can finally begin and be widely available next year to provide greater security in the area and the nearest service and decentralized to the citizen."
